Prelude

Julia Garlisi

Artist Statement

Prelude: an action or event serving as an introduction to something more important. This dance based art installation expresses the idea of life long health and wellness. The body creates life. It defines and outlines the journey for years to come. The importance of health before and after pregnancy is communicated through a thought provoking choreographed dance piece. The nest symbolizes home and or a womb, which can affect the growth and outcome of precious life. The theatre curtain conveys the idea of setting the stage for early life development and creation. In the performance of life, there is no dress rehearsal.
